'Chopin Playing the Piano in Prince Radziwill's Salon' by Henryk Siemiradzki, 1887

The Salon, a Cultural Home

In 19th‑century Paris, the salon was not a concert hall but a private gathering – usually hosted by aristocrats or wealthy patrons – where artists, writers, and thinkers shared new work in an intimate setting. Frédéric Chopin held his own salon at 9 Square d'Orléans, receiving a select circle that included Franz Liszt, Eugène Delacroix, and George Sand. It was also where he taught. Students came twice weekly for lessons, and here Chopin developed his revolutionary teaching method – one rooted in natural hand position, singing tone, patiently teaching by example to nurture each student's inner musical vision.

Salon Chopin is a direct homage to that world – a historical portal where one can make music in an environment true to the spirit of his era.
